Ruckus!

RLMG was honored to craft the anchor experience on Boston’s famous Freedom Trail with our client, Revolutionary Spaces. Setting a new standard for heritage tourism, our immersive show Ruckus! at the Old South Meeting House transforms a historic structure into a time machine. This 27-minute animated production at the Old South Meeting House tells the story of the pivotal events of the American Revolution in Boston. Animated figures take over the walls of this National Historic Landmark via projection mapping, while transparent OLED screens, dramatic lighting, and surround sound further immerse visitors in the narrative.

A Living Artifact

The Old South Meeting House is a living artifact, with original features and careful restorations that bring the spirit of colonial Massachusetts into the present for contemporary visitors. RLMG’s immersive experience gives audiences the chance to witness that union of past and present, and gain a deeper understanding of the nuances of the Revolution.

With the help of Revolutionary Spaces’ historians, we share perspectives often overlooked in other retellings, and offer an interpretation that is both accurate and innovative. This mode of storytelling shatters conventions of how history can be taught. By weaving the story of well-known figures like John Adams and Phillis Wheatley with lovable new animated characters, and by casting the building as a character in the drama, we defy expectations for history education and create a highly entertaining attraction for locals and visitors of Boston alike.
