This position is responsible for managing RLMG’s post-production processes across projects, including testing, installation, support, and archiving. A successful candidate for the Testing, Installation, and Support Manager position has a background in interactive experiences and spaces, hands-on experience with a wide variety of AV technologies, and is enthusiastic about new and innovative media experiences.
This is a full-time position, to begin in Fall 2024.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Testing & Installation Management (30%)
- Manage the use of RLMG’s dedicated prototyping and testing space.
- Manage user testing, QA testing, and in-office AV setup.
- Manage remote and onsite installation process for all integrated video and interactive media projects from production through final delivery.
- Act as the liaison to outside partners and AV integrators to make sure that project technical goals and requirements are met.
- Travel to supervise integration and complete media installations.
Documentation, Support, and Archiving Management (25%)
- Prepare media manuals documenting software installation, configuration, and other details for client use and internal reference.- Lead support of previous installs, responding to support requests directly and coordinating response from other members of project teams.
- Oversee updating and maintenance of archive of final media and source files for completed projects.
Technical Consultation & Support on Ongoing Projects (25%)
- Understand and define hardware and software requirements for select media exhibits. Act as key person within production teams to ensure the feasibility and technical efficiency of each project.- Develop detailed hardware specifications for RLMG projects.
- Coordinate with outside partners (clients, fabrication, AV integration, and 3D design) at key project milestones.
Prototyping and R&D (10%)
- Create software prototypes to answer specific user interface, hardware compatibility, or technological questions during project design and production phases.
- Design and build physical prototypes to test scale, form factor, and custom interfaces.
Internal Technology (10%)
- Manage purchasing and support of shared equipment for testing, as well as employee computers and related hardware.
- Consult with Director of Creative Technology and Head of Operations on technical infrastructure.
- Coordinate and recommend upgrades to the office systems.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience designing, installing, or supporting AV & media for public spaces (museums, themed attractions, live venues and events, theater, media arts, etc.)
- Experience with a wide variety of AV technologies and installations.
- Ability to creatively and collaboratively solve technical problems with developers, designers, and other project partners.
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical project partners.
- Strong organizational skills to juggle multiple tasks.- Experience with prototyping and user testing.
- A passion for interactive media, AV installations, and museum experiences.
This is a flexible role with responsibilities that can be tailored to the candidate. Multi-talented and versatile candidates are preferred. The following are not required, but some combination of the below is desired.
- CTS or similar AV design/installation certification.
- Experience with 3-dimensional design tools and familiarity with construction documents, technical drawings, etc.
- An aptitude for building and programming physical prototypes.
- Experience working with Arduino or other prototyping platforms and related sensors.
- Programming skills (Unity, Javascript, C, TouchDesigner, digital signage systems).
- Proficiency with Adobe design suite tools.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $60,000 – 75,000
