Our most iconic experience immerses visitors in the earthquakes that shook Tennessee in 1812. Standing on a motion platform and surrounded by a theatrical, panoramic video installation, visitors are instantly transported to this historic event that shaped the region’s dramatic landscape.
On all four sides of a giant, inverted pyramid, a holographic animation tells the ancient Cherokee story of the first fire. Interactive viewers allow visitors to access “hot spots” on a large mural composited from NASA images of the universe. A cipher experience challenges visitors to decode a secret message from World War II. An extensive collection of oral histories feature the region’s residents sharing local lore and legend.
